PROJECTS I USUALLY PERFORM WITH:
MATT JORGENSEN +451
My band. My friends. Good Music.
For a complete description visit the 451 page. My long-time associates
Mark Taylor and Rob Davis on saxophones, Ryan Burns on fender rhodes
(Marc Seales is on the first 2 records) and Phil Sparks on bass. I feel
real lucky to have guys who will follow me around the world performing
my music. We've done 4 records in the last 6 years, working on a new
one now, and will continue to peroform wherever they'll have us.
CONVERSATIONS
My group with no chords. mj451 originally started out as 2 saxophones,
bass and drums. After a 451 tour I wanted to just play -- just play
and see what happens when different people get together with very little
planned out ahead of time. The name is basically what it is -- musicial
conversations. Usually will feature any combination of Mark Taylor,
Saul Cline, Rick Mandyck, Thomas Marriott, Jeff Johnson, Doug Miller,
Phil Sparks and so on.
AUTOMAT
Created during the summer of 2004, Automat is another no chords group featuring Los
Angeles saxophonist Matt Otto, Mark Taylor, Jeff Johnson and myself.
We have a CD in the can featuring a lot of Otto's tunes and did a short
tour this summer. Look for the CD in the fall and some gigs to follow after that.
TRIO WITH GARY VERSACE AND MARK TAYLOR
Created for a performance following the 2004 Ballard Jazz Festival, this trio with Gary Versace on organ and Mark Taylor on saxophones is new and different every time we walk onto the bandstand.
MARK TAYLOR QUARTET
Mark Taylor is my musical partner in a lot of my projects. Mark's debut CD, After Hours, was recorded in New York with my fellow RadioAction bandmates Whitney Ashe on piano and Gary Wang on bass. Now the live performances will usually feature guitar instead of piano with Chris Spencer being the first choice and Geoff Cooke or Phil Sparks on bass.
