I get to play with a lot of great musicians ... here are some of the ones I can be seen with frequently.
MATT JORGENSEN +451
My band. My friends. Good Music.
For a complete description visit the 451 page. My long-time associates
Mark Taylor and Rob Davis on saxophones, Ryan Burns on fender rhodes
(Marc Seales is on the first 2 records) and Phil Sparks on bass. I feel
real lucky to have guys who will follow me around the world performing
my music. We've done 4 records in the last 6 years, working on a new
one now, and will continue to peroform wherever they'll have us.
COREY CHRISTIANSEN QUARTET
Guitarist Corey Christiansen has 2 new records coming out on Origin Records with his group that also features Pat Bianchi on organ and David Halliday on saxophone. These records are groovy! Look for some dates in early 2009.
CONVERSATIONS
My group with no chords. mj451 originally started out as 2 saxophones,
bass and drums. After a 451 tour I wanted to just play -- just play
and see what happens when different people get together with very little
planned out ahead of time. The name is basically what it is -- musicial
conversations. Usually will feature any combination of Mark Taylor,
Saul Cline, Rick Mandyck, Thomas Marriott, Jeff Johnson, Doug Miller,
Phil Sparks and so on.
THOMAS MARRIOTT
There is no better trumpet player on the scene today than Thomas Marriott. I first recorded with Thomas on his Crazy: The Music of Willie Nelson project and then just finished a record with Thomas featuring Joe Locke. We also perform frequently together with saxophonist Hadley Caliman.
HADLEY CALIMAN
Saxophonist Hadley Caliman is a true legend and it is an honor to share a stage with him. We have some dates out-of-town this summer in San Francisco, Denver and beyond. Be sure and check out Haldey if you get a chance.
AUTOMAT
Created during the summer of 2004, Automat is another no chords group featuring Los
Angeles saxophonist Matt Otto, Mark Taylor, Jeff Johnson and myself.
We have a CD in the can featuring a lot of Otto's tunes and did a short
tour this summer. Look for the CD in the fall and some gigs to follow after that.
